2018 family stories
With the help of our community and caring staff we are able to bring Christmas to those who may otherwise go without. It’s such an honour to be able to be a part of helping our community.
“This year I struggled extremely due to being on disability and having a high dental bill for my daughter with no coverage. I used ALL of my Christmas savings twice and took out a loan to pay for it. Without the unbelievable kindness and generosity of my sponsor, my kids would not have had a Christmas at all. These sponsors will forever have a place in my heart and I hope that one day I can give someone even a sliver of the love, compassion and understanding that they gave us. I never believed in miracles before this, but after struggling and feeling like I was drowning, they saved us. It was a true Christmas miracle!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!!” -Anonymous
“I am so beyond thankful for the generosity and kindness shown to me and my family during the holiday season. I couldn’t imagine trying to get through the season without the assistance of the Abbotsford Food Bank which we rely heavily on each month. I can’t say enough amazing things about the Abbotsford Food Bank and my sponsor nor can I say thank you enough for making Christmas so amazing for my family. “I am extremely thankful that this program exists. Without it I don’t know what I would have done. I am a single mom and I was dreading Christmas and you made it very enjoyable for my son and I. Thank you doesn’t begin to express my gratitude. Without the Christmas Bureau our Christmas would have been almost non-existent. “I am a single Dad of a little girl. We live on a disability income that covers rent and bills with very little left for food or clothes which often causes very difficult decisions. This program allows relief from the stress and despair of not being able to provide for my child. I have tried to teach her how lucky we are for what we have and how others help us so that she takes nothing for granted. We know that a lot of families and children have to go without. We are so grateful for the Abbotsford Food Bank and their sponsors for making a very special day and for their continued help throughout the rest of the year. Thank You!” -Anonymous
