Last month, more than 250 community members gathered to enjoy a variety of cultural foods at the third annual Taste Around the World event, hosted by the Archway Food Justice program in collaboration with local community partners. The multicultural food-sharing event celebrated the rich cultural diversity within Abbotsford and brought community members together through the sharing of traditional recipes, stories, and cultural experiences.Attendees had the chance to sample dishes created by four volunteer cooking teams representing Saudi Arabia, Okinawa, India, and Ukraine.A big thank you to the City of Abbotsford’s Culture City Program Series for funding this event and to United Way British Columbia for supporting the Archway Food Justice Program through its Regional Community Food Hubs Initiative. We are also grateful to The Gathering Church for providing kitchen space for volunteer cooks, the Abbotsford Community Foundation for contributing event materials, and Clearbrook Library for hosting the event.Learn more at Archway.ca/TATW2026 ... Introducing the Abbotsford Food Charter! The Archway Food Justice program, alongside the City of Abbotsford’s Abbotsford ACCESS, Fraser Health, UFV’s Food & Agriculture Institute, and the Abbotsford School District, is proud to launch a new community-driven vision for our local food system. As the agricultural heart of British Columbia, Abbotsford plays an important role in regional food production and food security. This Charter affirms that food is a foundation for community health, culture, and resilience as well as the economy. “This Charter is a powerful tool for collective action. By clearly outlining shared values and priorities, it helps ensure that future food‑related initiatives reflect the needs and aspirations of Abbotsford’s diverse communities." shared Rebecca Thuro, Manager of Food Security. 👉View the full charter at FoodJustice.ca/Charter ...
