Abbotsford Canucks Annual Teddy Bear Toss Collects Toys for Archway Christmas Bureau

The Abbotsford Canucks are hosting their annual Teddy Bear Toss on December 14th with the donated toys going to the Archway Christmas Bureau.

Fans are encouraged to bring new teddy bears and stuffed animals to the game, ready to toss them onto the ice following the Canucks’ first goal of the night against the Manitoba Moose.

“During last year’s Teddy Bear Toss game, our players managed to score a goal in the first minute!” said Rick Comeau, Abbotsford Canucks General Manager. “Our players are hoping for a repeat and are eagerly looking forward to being part of this special night.”

“So come early because we score early!”

This heart-warming event brings together hockey and heart, with each toy helping ensure that every child or teen in our community has a gift to open on Christmas.

At the game, the Abbotsford Canucks will also present a $10,000 cheque to the Archway Food Bank Christmas Bureau from the Canucks for Kids Fund to help support access to food for more than 5,000 people a month.

We’re so thankful to the Canucks for helping us towards our goal of raising $1.2 million dollars this holiday season to ensure we can keep up with the increased need for food,” said Cindy Walker, Archway Manager of Philanthropy.

“It’s been challenging to get the word out during the postal strike so events like the Teddy Bear Toss help showcase the needs of our community and give people tangible ways to help.”

The organization was also a sponsor of the Archway Toys for Tots Christmas Brunch which collected 2,355 toys.

“Our toy room will give out gifts to thousands of children this Christmas which is only possible because of the support of our community and organizations like the Abbotsford Canucks,” said Rebecca Thuro, Archway Food Security Manager.
